9 Month Checkup
We took Isaac to his pediatrician (Silhavy and Santos in Swansea) for his 9-month checkup today. He now weighs in at 21 lbs – 10 oz (70th percentile), is 29” long (50-75th percentile), and has a 18” noggin (50th percentile). His weight gain has really begun to flatten out now (on the growth chart). The doctor explained to us today that the growth charts were developed based on formula fed babies and apparently breastfed babies grow somewhat differently. This explains the 90+ percentile in the earlier months.
No shots today. Everything is seemingly normal. He is slightly ahead of schedule on crawling, but I guess he should be saying things like “dada” or “mama” pretty soon (if not already).
We are feeding him mostly baby foods (stage 2) with a nursing two times a day. We will begin to feed him more and more of our table food mashed up as time progresses.

He is crawling around like crazy now. He can move extremely quickly when he really wants something … and when you really don’t want him to have something. Over course you can tell when he knows he’s going after something he’s not supposed to have. He’ll start making loud, excited noises as he takes off toward the dishwasher (as in the photo to the right) or the Christmas tree or the glass on the floor.

Sleep. We fell off schedule pretty badly over the holidays. There were a few nights that we spent most of the night holding a screaming Isaac. But we're back on a pretty good sleeping and napping (<---sometimes in front of the tv) schedule now.
