Road Trip!

Last weekend Isaac had the opportunity to take his second significant road trip. We visited Wichita, KS for Crystal's cousin Jared's wedding reception. The trip down went super smooth. We left around 1:00 am on Friday night, stopped only twice for gas, and arrived in Wichita around 8:00 am. This bettered our drive time last trip by an hour!
We were hoping to check into the hotel as soon as we arrived so we could take a few hour nap to catch up on sleep. Unfortunately
the hotel was crowded so we went and hung out in a park for a while. The photo on the top right is Ike climbing a tree (with a little help) in the park. Our visit in Wichita was nice, but short. Sunday morning around 10:00 am, we set out for home, sweet, home. We made it only a few hours before Isaac began getting upset at being in the car. He was pretty angry so we took an extended lunch in a park somewhere in Kansas. The photos on the left are of us in this park. After a good hour or so break, we thought we wore out Ike and set off again. He fell asleep for a while, but we ran into pretty crappy traffic in Olathe, KS (just outside KC). It took us about an hour to move past 3 exits. Only a little while past the traffic jam, Ike woke up pissed off again. We tried to drive for a while, but gave in and stopped at a bbq place somewhere in western Missouri. Couldn't find a park here so we just camped out in a high school athletic field behind the bbq restaurant. The photo on the bottom right is in this field. The coolest thing about this stop was when Ike was laying on his stomach, I would command him to do a push up and he would do it. I felt like a drill sergeant! After another multiple hour stop, we took off again. Long story short, the return trip took 12 hours, 5 hours longer than the trip down. Moral of the story... always drive during your child's bed time...
