Seven Weeks

I'm late again with the seven week synopsis, but I will try to get the eight week out on time!  Ike is still doing well and his parents are doing fine as well.  We went to Art on the Square in downtown Belleville over the weekend and had a pretty nice time.  The weather was absolutely beautiful.  We walked down there twice on Saturday and once again on Sunday; again, using the baby carrier most of each of those two days.  I like to wear it quite a bit since ... well ... the baby carrier with Ike in it is quite the chick magnet!

Sleep:  Every night but Wednesday (so far) was pretty good with Ike sleeping 5-6 hours per night.

Poop:  Fuzzy buns are pretty comfy ... The Fuzzy-Buns brand diapers are so amazingly soft that if they were a little larger, I would be tempted to wear a pair.

Firsts We left this out of last week, but we did try babysitting for the first time last Saturday.  My niece Jill came over to watch Ike while Crystal and I worked in the yard.  He pretty much screamed the whole time and may have tramatized Jill to the extent that she may never hold a baby again.  And I would have to say that Saturday morning was my first, 100% identifiable, almost positive it wasn't gas, smile.  After I changed his diaper, he was just lieing on the changing pad and started smiling at me.  I was pretty excited, smiled back, and then he kept smiling and started flinging his arms and legs about.  Pretty cool stuff.  Incidentally (again, this belongs to poop), Ike has been much, much more cooperative and almost even happy while getting his diaper changed.  It probably helps that the changing pad sits about eye level with the bathroom window, so with it open he gets a nice breeze and can check everything out outside.  And when he's not happy, he lets the whole neighborhood know.

New Equipment: A new diaper hamper!  We're trying something besides the Diaper Champ for a little while since the cloth diapers are filling it up pretty quick.  We're using an ordinary trash can with a step open lid.  Doesn't stink too bad yet, but we'll see how it goes.
