Four Weeks

Ike's fourth week was another exciting one. He continues to grow like a weed and is eating quite a bit to maintain his growing belly. He is generally sleeping better at night now, too. He tends to go to sleep immediately after Crystal nurses him without too many exceptions and has been sleeping for two to four hours at a time. He also seemed to be getting better control of his hands and is continually more and more alert.

We picked up a new Baby Bjorn baby carrier at Babies 'R Us last weekend and have been using it quite a bit since. We had an unused Graco carrier from my sister that was only a couple of years old, but, like too many other baby things, was already listed as having some safety problems and not recommended for use prior to two months. Baby things are frustrating. You have to buy so many items that are only useful for a short period of time, yet you can't use used items due to the fact that safety requirements are constantly changing.

Anyway, Ike really seems to enjoy his carrier quite a bit and almost immediately falls asleep when we walk around with him in it. We took him for a long walk downtown on Tuesday night. We walked for a good two hours and he either slept or gazed around calmly the entire time. We even stopped at Acropolis and ate an appetizer outside without and objections from Ike dude!

Saturday was an especially busy day as we took a trip to Babies 'R Us, went grocery shopping at Schnuck's, and Karie & Kelly and Amy D came to visit him. Sunday was another busy day as we walked down to see cousin Rob's baseball game.

Last night we (Dan) bottle-fed Ike some expressed breast milk for the first time. Didn't go too bad, but he still didn't stay asleep afterwards nearly as well as when he is breastfed.
